Curriculum Provision
Children participate in ‘Wake and Shake’ as the first activity of the morning on most days, except for on Fridays, when many children are swimming.

Each class has two P.E. lessons a week:

The areas covered include:

  • Multi- Skills focussing on Invasion games. Striking and Fielding and Net skills
  • Dance
  • Gymnastics
  • Athletics
  • Team Building
  • Swimming – children from Y1 to Y6 have the opportunity to swim at Goldenstones Pool in Yeovil during the year.

Facilities
Children in Y2-Y6 have access to the playing field all year round and during break and lunch times. Children are encouraged to bring a change of clothing and a pair of old trainers, so that they can enjoy the outside facilities and have the chance to be active on the field, whatever the weather. The children in the younger years have the opportunity to use the field during lunch and break times as the weather improves.

We have close links with several local clubs which have junior sections. We encourage the children to join these clubs to further develop their skills and interests. The children share their experiences of being in other clubs in our wider community in termly assemblies in order to inspire their peers.

We are very fortunate to have some very experienced and proficient coaches amongst our teaching and support staff. This has meant we are able to provide good quality coaching both in and out of school hours and strengthen our links to local clubs.

Competition
Children are encouraged to participate in intra-school competitions and inter-school competitions from Year 2 onwards. We have had success in the following tournaments and leagues, in some cases progressing to District, County and even occasionally Regional level:
